چکیده

We present an approach to use individual In2O3 nanowire transistors as chemical sensors working at room temperature. Upon exposure to a small amount of NO2 or NH3 , the nanowire transistors showed a decrease in conductance up to six or five orders of magnitude and also substantial shifts in the threshold gate voltage. These devices exhibited significantly improved chemical sensing performance compared to existing solid-state sensors in many aspects, such as the sensitivity, the selectivity, the response time, and the lowest detectable concentrations. Furthermore, the recovery time of our devices can be shortened to just 30 s by illuminating the devices with UV light in vacuum. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1559438#

Synthesis, characterization, and optical properties of In2O3 semiconductor nanowires.

In2O3 semiconductor nanowires were synthesized by the chemical vapor deposition method through carbon thermal reduction at 900 degrees C with 95% Ar and 5% O2 gas flow. The In2O3 nanowires were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). For the first time, we observed t...

Complementary detection of prostate-specific antigen using In2O3 nanowires and carbon nanotubes.

We report complementary detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) using n-type In2O3 nanowires and p-type carbon nanotubes. Our innovation involves developing an approach to covalently attach antibodies to In2O3 NW surfaces via the onsite surface synthesis of phosphonic acid-succinylimide ester. Electronic measurements under dry conditions revealed complementary response for In2O3 NW and SWN...

Improving Gas Sensing Properties of Tin Oxide Nanowires Palladium-Coated Using a Low Cost Technique

Thin films of SnO2 nanowires were successfully prepared by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process on quartz substrates. Afterwards, a thin  layer of palladium (Pd) as a catalyst was coated on top of nanowires. For the deposition of Pd, a simple and low cost technique of spray pyrolysis was employed, which caused an intensive enhancement on the sensing response of fabricated sensors...

Indium oxide nanospirals made of kinked nanowires.

Helical inorganic nanostructures have received great attention due to their unique structures that could be interesting for both fundamental research and nanodevice applications. Using a tube-in-tube laser ablation chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method with gold nanoparticles as the catalysts, we reported the synthesis of self-assembled kinked In2O3 nanospirals and multikinked nanowires. As-sy...

Growth of In2O3 Nanowires Catalyzed by Cu via a Solid–Liquid–Solid Mechanism

In2O3 nanowires that are 10-50 nm in diameter and several hundred nanometers to micrometers in length have been synthesized by simply annealing Cu-In compound at a relatively low temperature of 550°C. The catalysis of Cu on the growth of In2O3 nanowires is investigated. It is believed that the growth of In2O3 nanowires is via a solid-liquid-solid (SLS) mechanism. Moreover, photoluminescence (PL...
